Professional Background & Specialisations

I obtained my Master’s Degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the Minster Centre in conjunction with Middlesex University and I have been seeing clients for over a decade. Being bilingual, I offer therapy in English and German and I speak intermediate-level French and Spanish.

I am accredited with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and registered with the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I abide by the Code of Ethics of both organisations.

To maintain the high-quality standard of therapy that I offer, I am regularly supervised. This is in addition to keeping abreast of the latest developments in the psychotherapeutic field.

Over the years I have worked with a broad range of issues including:

  • ADHD
  • Age-related problems
  • Anger
  • Anxiety
  • Bullying
  • Burnout
  • Childhood abuse and neglect (developmental trauma)
  • Co-dependency
  • Cultural issues
  • Depression
  • Domestic abuse
  • Eating disorders (binge-eating disorder/emotional eaters and bulimia)
  • Health anxiety
  • Life transitions
  • Loneliness
  • Low self-esteem and self-worth
  • Loss and bereavement
  • Relationship and family issues
  • Social anxiety
  • Stress management

I have lived and worked in several countries as well as coming from a multi-cultural background. This has given me a profound understanding, sensitivity, and open-minded awareness of the challenges that arise for clients from diverse cultural, ethnic and minority origins. Therefore, I have a unique ability to relate to this particular client group and can help them to address cultural issues.

Since qualifying as a psychotherapist, I have enhanced my ongoing personal and professional development by training in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). EFT is an evidence-based approach that works collaboratively with clients to help them become aware of, make sense of, regulate, accept, express and transform their emotional experience in a short- to medium-term manner.

Another specialty of mine lies in the area of Eating Disorders, where I have acquired valuable work experience in a leading London, UK-based Eating Disorder Clinic while receiving theoretical training from Professor Julia Buckroyd. I completed the Advanced Eating Disorder Certificate and qualified as a Licensed Practitioner in the Understanding Your Eating (UYE) Programme. This programme is a very helpful resource for clients struggling with disordered eating and teaches them different and healthier ways to manage their emotions and their lives. I offer this programme on a one-on-one basis and also to groups.

Currently, I am enrolled in the Traumatic Stress Studies Certificate Program led by Bessel van der Kolk, the world’s leading trauma treatment expert, to gain a comprehensive overview of a variety of treatment approaches to help clients overcoming traumatic stress.
